Cheonggyecheon (청계천) is a public space in downtown Seoul. This space is built around an old stream, which itself was built over to make an elevated highway and then restored into the public space it is now. The stream is below street level and is surrounded by a walkway. You can walk along the stream for a few hundred meters or many kilometers; either way you will be greeted with sites like small waterfalls, beautiful little bridges, water displays, fun crossings, and steps & jetties bringing you right up to the flowing water. There are often displays, shows and art exhibitions in the space. This picture was taken during the winter; the display of plastic bag lanterns began just after a lighted waterfall and covered a small section of the stream. A perfect spot for a night time stroll.
