The Third Gate

gyeongbokgung geunjeongjeon geunjeongmun

Gyeongbokgung Palace (경복궁), built during the Joseon Dynasty, was the main and largest palace of that dynasty. It is another must-see sight in Seoul. The picture shows Geunjeongjeon (known as Throne Hall, or The Royal Audience Chamber). To get to this hall, you must pass through the Main Gate, The Second Inner Gate and finally The Third Inner Gate. As you pass through this last gate (as in the picture), the gradual emergence of the sight you are beholding is truly awe-inspiring. The view of this massive hall, on an equally grand courtyard is just magnificent.
