Bukchon Hanok Village (see the previous post) is first and foremost, a residential neighbourhood. The hanoks are people’s homes, and if you go visiting the area you should be respectful and mindful at all times. Now that that’s out of the way, I can go on to tell you about all the wonderful little shops, restaurants, tea houses, cultural centers, galleries and workshops this area also houses. There, I just did! There are various suggested ‘walking tours’ you can go on, or perhaps simply meander and enjoy the views. Either way, it’s a unique area of Seoul and definitely worth a visit. You can see one of the many streets / alleys of the village in the picture above – and yes that is a slope; the village lies on a hilly area.
