A Mythical Mount

The Garuda (ครุฑ ‘Krut’ in Thai) is a bird-like creature from Hindu and Buddhist mythology, who is the mount of Vishnu. The statue in the picture is the typic representation of Garuda in Thai Buddhism. This particular Garuda is one of many that adorns Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) in Bangkok.
